I think that 'erhaps we were around before modern apes *and* we 'evolved' (though not necessarily via random mutation and selection) from the ancestors of modern apes. If evolution is a kind of reincarnation couldn't we go extinct, or regress, only for humans to re-emerge again to the same blueprint?
