I should have said at 1 or 1.3cm i think the lesion was small enough to be excised whole.

@brickbybric from my reading of the n. c. i. guidelines for melanoma punch and incisional biopsys should be reserved for palm, sole, digit, face, ear or large lesions, and shave biopsy,s should be avoided.when the correct breslow thickness is known, the correct margins for the wider excision can be gauged ,also the need for for a sentinel lymph node biopsy can be gauged.punch , incisional and shave biopsy,s in my opinion should be avoided if possible because they may lead to inaccurate breslows

@drsedicum i am not a doctor , but i would disagree with your use of a punch biopsy in this case.if i was the person i would have insisted that an excisional biopsy(elipitcal)be preformed useing a longditudinal oreintation. as you know the most important factor in planning further treatment fo melanoma is finding the correct breslow thickness, and the best way to find it is to excise all the lesion.at 1 or 1.1 cm i think that the lesion was small enough to be excised whole.

I had wart remove from my leg. Also took some samples of differ skin lesion on leg and my face. My doctor told me my samples will go pathology for test. Get what? I'm free of suspicious. Then I return for completed removal by using freezing device. Return for three other area works. It took five weeks for all work. It go for pathology and freezing. My face look 100% better than three years ago. I hate kids looking at my wart on my cheek.

This is also my question, in my case they removed more flesh arround the melanoma and analized it and the result was free of cancer so I didnt need any further treatment, but someone once wrote that melanoma is very tricky I still trying to find out why???

Dr.
My husbands dad died from melanoma when he was 34. My husband is now 34, has a lot of moles that in the past haven't been much of a concern, however, now he has one that is bleeding. It still appears to be circular but darker in color. He has an appointment with a dermatologist Tues, but that is 4 days away. We knows he is very high risk but my question is, is there a good chance this isn't melanoma cancer? Can it be something else? We are sitting on pins, I feel as though they should have

i have a mole its smaller than a pencil eraser and is almost all dark brown and it recently just starting to hurt around it it isnt itchy and it dosent bleed or ooze i dont know if there is somthing wrong
There is a chart used to determine how much tissue around the lesion needs to be removed to assure complete removal of dangerous cells, and it's based on the dimensions identified by pathology. The consultation will probably involve discussing this, and deciding if a lymph node biopsy would be necessary. If you need more resection, it could be in the office or the hospital, depending on how involved it is expected to be. It sounds like you're going to be fine. Good luck.

@testest12312 : Hard to tell from fuzzy video. You should have someone take a still photo in good light. Unlikely that discoloration over that great of an area is a melanoma. More likely to be a nevus of some sort. Definitely get an appointment with a dermatologist to diagnose for sure. Don't have anxiety, just get it checked out. Good luck.

I've had 9 biopsies for Melanoma. And the Dr never told me anything except that I keep having to come back for more tissue removal. Finally I swapped MD' s and this one just did a punch biopsy on me. And damn it hurt! Promised me path results by Mon-nothing yet. We'll see. I wish they'd tell me yes or no on the melanoma. Note; I already had one lymph removed that was questionable and still never got true results from. Strange how Dr's don't tell every thing. I wish I knew.

feel awful sorry that I might have taken longer than your doctor to respond...but chances are that no news is good news. When Melanoma is actually identified on biopsy, alarms go off, and you'll get an appointment you didn't plan on. So relax...but I would be curious about what the previous pathology results revealed...might help in predicting what is going on.
