This is the 1964 Blonde Bassman with new Celestions combined with a 1964 Super Reverb to fill the room. I'm using my Dunlop Cry Baby that I bought back in the '80's. I just replaced the original Oxfords (dog crop) with a Celestion Vintage 30 and a G12H30. It sounds so good now. It has a lot of headroom before the speakers break up. I am also using a vintage TS-808. That is my 1964 Strat with 11-52 Pyramid Nickel Classics tuned down one half step to go with Hendrix's new CD release, "Valleys of Neptune." Great CD. Check it out. I also have all of my amps running through Carl Hartman's Tone Preserver to bring the home voltage down to 110v. Watch the end and you get a little idea of the difference in tone between the Bassman and Super.

  • Yea, there is no flab in the Celestions. The Oxfords are trash. I had one reconed and it still didn't sound good. I'm very impressed with the Celestions. The Blonde is very punchy and the hardest amp on my ears. This would be a perfect big stage outdoor gig amp.

  • Nice tone. I've got a 1967 silverface Bassman with the bass channel modded to Blonde specs. Speakers are Celestion greenback reissues. Huge improvement over the stock Oxfords or whatever they were. I love that the Celestions don't flab out on me. They're not quite as sparkly for clean tones but they're sooo much better for overdrive sounds. Much more pedal friendly.
