This video features Bill Evans playing one of his own compositions, "The Distance Between Two Points." Bill is playing this piece on his 1937 Gibson flathead -75, a modern day "bluegrass" banjo, in the three-finger style. To hear a live full band version of this tune, visit www.myspace.com/billevansstringsummit. Bill hopes to record this tune later in 2008.

  • Greetings! A tab of this tune was in the August issue of "Banjo Newsletter" magazine. Check it out! Sincerely, Bill

  • Hi Oscar, There is no tab available for this tune as of right now. It is available in a duet performance on my new CD "let's do something" with fiddler Megan Lynch however. Someday, I'll try and get around to publishing a tab book of a lot of my tunes - that's a big undertaking and I find that I don't have a lot of time for extra projects these days! Sincerely, Bill

  • Wow! How long, I wonder, before someone makes a banjo concerto based on this kind of music (The London Symphony Orchestra with Bill Evans - wouldn't that be cool?)

  • Great job BIll! What a fantastic tune. I learned to play using your book "Banjo for Dummies" on a $150 banjo that I and my roommate had to share during college. I've just upgraded to a Recording King Bill Sullivan Tribute and have you to thank for getting me going on this wonderful instrument!

  • This is the beauty of internet. I´m in Argentina and I end up listening to this song, without the net I would have never found it. Congrats and keep it going.

  • Are you really looking for this tune? It's in the BanjoNewsletter May 2009 issue...I clicked on the link and it brought me here to YouTube

  • Fantastic composition. Sounds modern and beautiful but not show-offy or guitary

  • I would KILL for this tab. What an outstanding peice. Excellent work Mr. Evans.

  • Learned it... well for the most part. I've only been playing for nearly a year, and I screwed some bits up... a few missed notes, screwed up part of the timing in part C, among other things. It's a bit of an odd tune to play... I like the banjo, like drums (which I also play) because as long as I'm hitting the hi hat at 1/8 notes, I can figure out the timing of everything else in relation to that. Your song didn't quite follow steady eighths... Hope I didn't massacre it.

  • It's an wonderful tune Bill! Any chance of sharing the tabs with the world so that your tune can live on in our hands as well?
