From Tumbleweed Connection, 1970
By Elton John/Bernie Taupin

Lyrics:

You tell me there's an angel in your tree,
Did he say he'd come to call on me?
For things are getting desperate in our home, living in the parish of the restless folks i know.

Everybody now, bring your family down to the riverside,
look to the east to see where the fat stock hide,
behind four walls of stone the rich man sleeps
it's time we put the flame torch to their keep

Burn down the mission
If we're gonna stay alive
Watch the black smoke fly to heaven
See the red flame light the sky

Burn down the mission
Burn it down to stay alive
It's our only chance of living
Take all you need to live inside

Deep in the woods the squirrels are out today
My wife cried when they came to take me away
But what more could I do just to keep her warm
Than burn burn burn burn down the mission walls

Everybody now, bring your family down to the riverside,
look to the east to see where the fat stock hide,
behind four walls of stone the rich man sleeps
it's time we put the flame torch to their keep

Burn down the mission
If we're gonna stay alive
Watch the black smoke fly to heaven
See the red flame light the sky

Burn down the mission
Burn it down to stay alive
It's our only chance of living
Take all you need to live inside

  • @EtoileLituanienne well im not saying you're wrong, i'm just wondering, like, what does Mads do that is better than Elton's playing? also, i was just a little surprised to see that comment because, you know elton, he's been playing for 60 years and of course it's his own song. :)

  • @eltonj4ever It's not my opinion, that's a fact.

  • @EtoileLituanienne Dude...definitely not better than Elton John.

  • LOVED the 'Burn it down!' ad lib at the end. Excellent job.

  • very awesome performance! it's nice to know that I'm not the only young person that loves Elton John. I don't know if you were playing it on purpose, but in case you weren't(though I'm sure you were because you've mastered the song) the part you play at 5:07, in the bass it goes F, E, D, C, B, A, and back to the G ( and you can figure out which the of the G, F, or C chords goes along with with it) as opposed to Eb, D, C, Bb, A, G, and F as you have it. But still great job!!

  • i agree.. definitely not better than the one and ONLY Elton.. but pretty darn good. Although it needs singing.. this version is much less hyped than Elton's. It lacks mojo... needs to be sung as well as played

  • @EtoileLituanienne You think he plays better than Elton?

  • You're so young and now you play way better than Elton does. I'm sure you'll become famous if you want it :)
