Preshow and Full Ride. Plunge down the dark freight elevator shaft of the once glamorous Hollywood Tower Hotel in The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park.

Ah, but this is no ordinary hotel. Its phantom elevator is located beyond the fifth dimension, the one that crosses over into The Twilight Zone.

The Legend:
Classic stars of the silver screen sought rest and relaxation at the grand Hollywood Tower Hotel during the Golden Age of Hollywood. In 1939, during a gloomy Halloween night, 5 unlucky souls were riding down the Hotel's maintenance service elevator when a violent storm struck the building... and they were never seen again. Black scorch marks still scar The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror facade where lightning left its autograph.

The Elevator:
A ride on the "fright elevator" beyond the eerie boiler room in the hotel basement could be down, then up, or maybe down again, or up and up—every experience is different and randomly selected by the Tower itself. There's no way of knowing which direction you'll go on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

  • How old do you have to be to get on this?

  • @brookandemmy There's a 40inch or taller height requirement.

  • Mr Sharp does the ride move inside of the hotel ?

  • @MrLegoFIxer Yeah, after the small preshow it goes through the building to a second elevator shaft that it does the drop in.

  • How long did you wait before going to the ride?

  • @coastertron When we filmed this we used fast passes, about 15 minutes from walking in to being on the ride. We came back a different day and waited 45 minutes to ride using the normal line.

  • @franco19latin i think 2010 early late july early august

  • @phillyphan24 when did this occur to you? what year??

  • This ride was amazing. I think I was 12 when I rode this.

  • I shouldn't of watched this. I suddenly feel jipped for what we have of the version of this ride at California Adventures.

  • I went on this three times and i DID NOT THROW UP i felt so proud of myself haha

  • @sharpproductions when i went in august there was only about a 5 to 10 minute wait time for this once it got to an hour but with fast passes there was usually only about one minute and that was because of the walking to the ride

  • Do you use a go pro?

  • This is why there should be stairs on the Hollywood Tower Hotel!

  • How do you do that without dropping the camera?
