Kelly Richey -- "Stevie Ray Vaughan trapped in a woman's body with Janis Joplin screaming to get out." That's an apt appraisal of the Lexington, Kentucky native who's been based in Cincinnati for many years. Richey has often been compared to such greats as Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan because of her ability to capture and entertain an audience with ripping guitar leads that both sing and astonish.

I first saw Kelly at Live Lunch WFPK and was floored by how she just kept giving it and giving it. She provided great inspiration for me to work harder and strive to experience that passion within myself.
Thanks Kelly!

I know Kelly and she said it right, she really is the best F'ing female guitar player out there and you need to come out and see if she's lying . She is not lying.

Kelley, what do you think of Eric Gales? He's got some jazzy phrasing to his blues, and some high-energy riffing, though I think his prison stint knocked some of the attitude out of him - not to make a comparison between you, but as a fellow blues guitarist -

The phrase "SRV trapped in a woman's body" is so gender-negative - like his ghost would be inwardly screaming "Estrogen! Aggh! Get me out of here!" - How about "KR channeling the spirit of SRV", something that makes Kelley sound like she's in charge of the process? As for the performance, Kelley has got some powerful chops, & clearly is feeling the music, so that's all good -- also, she sounds a lot like herself, which is even more complimentary than sounding like someone else - i.e., A-OK
