1. Where did that 400Cr figure came? I am sure some 'expert' has pulled it out of some hideous place! Is there any basis for that?

2. Is there any scientific basis for the claim Vypin will wash away? Are you saying the authorities of Kochi port are complete idiots who have no clue on these things? I am sure they are infinitely competent in harbour engg than Mr. Yesudas and the rest of the Vizhinjam supporters combined.

First of all, what does he mean "We have a 'small' port at Kochi? That would be like saying "We have a budding young singer Yesudas". Secondly, what is the basis of his claim that Vypin will be washed away? Is there any study rep[ort to that effect? His views on harbour engineering is as valuable as my vies on his music, ie WORTHLESS.

A port proj do not upon on the natural features. It depends upon the hinterland economy that it targets. How many containers do you see coming from Trivandrum?

Let me rephrase the statement "A port project do not solely depend upon the natural features". Kochi is better placed from the hinterland cargo POV.

@dileepks69 some Kochiites want only Kochi to develop. Well kerala consists not only of Kochi. Thiruvananthapuram still remains and will remain as the great capital of god's own country forever. This city has all the rights to develop. No crazy idiots have the right to oppose the development .

@razor8292 I do not oppose Vizhinjam. I oppose Mr. Yesudas's view that Kochi port should not be developed.

It is OT but Trivandrum is 'legally' the largest, because all the villages around the core city is annexed to it. It did not happen in Kochi. Where else you will see five muncipalities adjoining a city? It is a mere legal technicality that Trivandrum is a bigger city than Kochi.

Unlike TVMites who openly demand a TVM centric development, I do not ask for Kochi centric development

@dileepks69 Trivandrum is the largest and most populous city in kerala. Some people still believe its Kochi (Check Wikipedia for urself idiots). The environmental conditions at Vizhinjam are favorable for the port (much better than Kochi).So less work to be done.
