When I was a kid and saw this for the first time on tv in Mercury's tribute concert, because I happened to be a Queen fan, I thought they were serious about it and so I became a fan of Spinal tap too.

@honeyfred I remember that incident :) I have the whole concert recorded from the BBC Radio 1 broadcast.

We don't disagree entirely! You were right about U2, but like I said - at the time, they seemed to just be grabbing a bunch of bands that were huge. Fair enough, it did get a lot of people watching!
