Zairean defender, Mwepu Ilunga, shows his thorough knowledge of the Rules of the Game in the final group match versus Brazil.

Remarkably, Zaire kept the score to just 3-0.

  • nice clip .. i like it .. thanks for sahring

  • The team had been threathened by their country's leader that if they lose by more than 3 goals, they would never see their families again.

  • @rtj182 - If you bother to look at the official match report on the fifa web site you will see that the only Zaire player booked was in the 78th minute. The 3rd Brazilian goal was scored by VALDOMIRO in the 79th minute therefore your opening statement is false.

  • @rtj182 Er, the yellow card just meant they got to re-take the free kick....

  • GET THIS : at that time the score was 3 for Brazil and 0 for Zaire. if the Brazil could score on that free kick, all Zaire players would be killed, yes to death !!!! Zaire dictator had threatened his players that if they lose more than 3 goals from Brazil, they all would be killed !!

how could someone get no pressure when there's a 50/50 chance that they would be killed??? simply this player had saved all Zaire players.

  • @hammersandirons1001

well that would mean giving away the book...

its called death or glory, the dark side of the world cup. it s by jon spurling... it is quite interesting at times.

  • @whufc94

    yes

  • @Akashthepenguin

    explain please...

  • guys there is a reason behind all of it....

i have a book that explains in more detail and he didnt just kick the ball away cuz he was a dumbass, he knew the rules perfectly well. in fact, he might have very well saved the entire team's families lives....

  • @nalleliemme "I can't believe no one's thought of it before. I'll go down in history. This will become known as the Ilunga Mwepu manoeuvre"), but he has also said his actions came after threats of violence from the country's president if they went down to a heavy defeat. "I panicked and kicked the ball away before he had taken it," he said. "Most of the Brazil players, and the crowd, too, thought it was hilarious. They didn't understand the pressure we were under."
