  • @reidboy2009 I feel as though you are trying to distract me since you have yet to directly respond to the original scriptures where a)all three members of the trinity are in the same place at the same time, b) Jesus commands to baptize in the name of each member of the trinity, and c) Jesus says that He and the Father count as two witnesses. If you will respond to those we can continue.

  • @csgooch the Father and The Holy Spirit are one and the same. Make sense?

  • @csgooch Ok well explain this. Matthew 1:20 says "...fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is concieved in her is of the Holy Ghost." This scripture clearly states that the Holy Spirit(ghost) concieved Jesus Christ, making it the father, which would actually make "God the Father" not the Father. So, The Holy Spirit is actually the Father of Jesus Christ, not God the Father. But, technically God the Father is still the father since, according to our beliefs (and scripture) God

  • @reidboy2009 Exactly, it's all about context. That was why I gave the example of The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (God in three persons) appearing at the same time at Jesus baptism.

I know what that reference to the Greek form of the word one in that context means because we have a Greek NT and have studied Greek. We thought that would be valuable since the New Testament was written in Greek.

  • @csgooch Ok? Even if the trinity isn't specifically mentioned, it's all about context. In some ways it could mean that but the scripture i provided is Jesus just flat out saying, my father and I are one. And how do you know that "one" in that one scripture means that? and by the way, all three (in one) live in you, not just the holy spirit. And the second scriptures says nothing of the holy spirit. Jesus says "he that hath seen me hath seen the Father". I don't understand the confusion in that.

  • @reidboy2009 They may not use the specific word "trinity", but they do speak of it. I would venture to say that you believe in the rapture, however I would challenge you to show me a verse that had that word in it.

Honestly, those references don't make much sense to me as the original Greek word for one in John 10:30 is a word meaning united in purpose, not one person. As for the other reference, the Holy Spirit lives in me, but I can assure you I am NOT the Holy Spirit.

  • @csgooch And I still have more scripture if that doesn't seem to make sense.

  • @csgooch Ok none of those scriptures say anything about a trinity. John 10:30 says "I and my Father are one." and John 14:9-10 says "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

  • @reidboy2009 I think Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19, and John 8:16-18 would have to be biblically valid since they are in the Bible. To be honest, I'm shocked that someone would sing a song that was written about something they thought was invalid.

  • @csgooch Yup. The lyrics are changed because, to be frank, we don't sing lyrics that are biblically invalid.
