I supsect that most here don't really feel how much pain this inflicts on some very good Christians. Check out Piper Laurie in Carrie, Check out the image of heavily armed men checking weapons prior to become warriors of God. Christians don't normally go nuts, but the exterminatiosn of Jews in the past shows that reactions differ. Kristalnacht, occured after a Jewish man killed a Nazi offical. @edichkaa The joke relies more on the overreaction of Christians to ludicrous "sightings" of Jesus or other religious figures, IE seeing the virgin Mary on a piece of toast, or Jesus on toast.
