From the amazing album "Black Star" with Mos Def and Talib Kweli is the analytical animated video. A project I once started a long time ago using Paint. That's right! PAINT! NOT flash! The purpose of taking the long route was part of an artistic statement about the long troubles for little things (Over 450 individual pictures drawn so far). It's not finished yet and I can't decide whether to continue or to quit. I can only get better from here but it's sooooo much work. What do you think?

  • This track was inspired by author Toni Morrison's novel The Bluest Eye. Kweli explains that a paragraph "struck me as one of the truest critiques of our society. I think it is especially true in hip hop, because we get blinded by these illusions:

And fantasy it was, for we were not strong, only aggressive; we were not free, merely licensed; we were not compassionate, we were polite; not good but well-behaved. We courted death in order to call ourselves brave, and hid like thieves from life.

  • Gottta finish this !!!!!

  • I agree with dfrost. This is definitely one of the sickest videos I've seen

  • I agree with dfrost. this is definitely one of the made videos ive seen

  • the fact that this isnt played on the radio doesnt just make me worry bout the state of hip hop but the state of the american consumer as a whole

  • for the music that Mos Def and Kweli put out they deserve a lot more recognition and popularity
