although it was customary to do the asperges at high mass on sundays, it is not technically part of the mass. it is frequently dispensed with for the sake of time if there's a lot of music. long graduals, polyphonic settings of the ordinary, etc. it can and has been used, rarely in the new mass.
@pcampbell17 what would make you think this was suppressed? We do it as part of the OF every Holy Thursday.

if you can find an FSSP parish, they still do this before the Tridentine Mass every sunday
