Oh come on, lets get tanned together!

*Speaking at a joint news conference with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi gave an enthusiastic, if unconventional, welcome to the election of Barack Obama, citing among his attributes youth, good looks and a suntan. Berlusconi said that he will try to help relations between Russia and the United States where a new generation has come to power, and I don't see problems for Medvedev to establish good relations with Obama who is handsome, young and also suntanned." Italy's left-wing opposition parties accused him of bringing discredit on the country with comments which they said were at worst racist and at best a diplomatic blunder. However Berlusconi, who himself sports a suntan, hit back at his critics - accusing them of not having a sense of humor. He told ANSA news agency his initial remark was intended as a "compliment," adding that he is equally "envious" of black supermodel Naomi Campbell. "My compliment to Barack is a little envious," said Berlusconi, "We would all like to be tanned like Naomi Campbell and Obama," said the self-made billionaire, during a press conference in Pescara, Italy.
