Welcome back to The Way of Nerdvana. We have experienced some flooding at our normal location but should be back in our usual spot for next weeks chapter. Taylor and I are both sad about cancelation of the Battlestar Galactic prequel Caprica. Not that we are surprised. For our full thoughts on the matter check out this weeks video. That said, we are both really looking forward to the new series on the Cylon wars Blood and Crome. With a name like that it has got to be good. We still have some preview still up for The Great Beginning so check it out. December 1 is only a month away! -Allen "Cheerly to sea; the signs of war advance."

  • gimme a break. aren't people bored of "protaganists" by now? I liked it because it was complex like life. I just wonder if Lacy Rand rejects Clarice and ends terrorism. And for hero Daniel Graystone, who else...

  • ...and Daniel's need to have his family unbroken again was his driving force to create the first cylon. Love and regret clouds his better judgement from seeing what creating such advanced virtual intelligence would have. I loved the characters and Clarice Willow was an awesome villain. I hope that one day we will somehow get more Caprica cuz clearly season 2 was going to be even better.

  • I actually loved Caprica. I was never expecting a lot of action. quite frankly I didn't want a ton of action from Caprica. the action was my least favorite thing about BSG. It was nice, but I never needed it. I loved how realized a world Caprca was and the mystery behind Apotheosis. The new tech and seeing how it would all connect to BSG kept me interested and I thought it was clear that the central character is Zoe. Everything was sprung into action because of the terrorist attack and Zoe

  • @BeginningOfLine Very well said. Caprica did live up to BSG in so many ways. the only time I hear people complain is that there wasn't as much action as they wanted, they didn't get what was going on or they thought nothing was going on (almost always because they just didn't follow the story put in front of them closely enough). A lot happened in the first half of the season but because no one was getting shot, the mindless masses couldn't follow the deeper and richer story. It's a sad day :(

  • Oh, and as far as who to identify with - there were the more culturally-focused traditional Taurons, the Capricans, who seemed to be bringing about the downfall of humanity with debauchery and hedonism, or the monotheists who saw the world crumbling and wanted to change it, some by terrorist means, but others not (ie: Lacy, who became the show's most fascinating character along with Sam Adama). This show gave us both characters and ideas with which to identify or grapple. Sadly, it is no mas.

  • (cont'd from comment below) Caprica was basically BSG without a war. So if the war was the ONLY thing you liked about BSG, then yeah, you'll be disappointed in Caprica. But morally ambiguous characters are a BSG staple! Also, it's set over 50 years before the first cylon war. What "action" were you expecting? Lastly, a lot of my non-geek friends that I got to watch Caprica loved it, having not liked BSG. This should've been Ron Moore's mainstream sci-fi show. But the marketing was handled poorly.

  • Just happened upon this video while following other links. I have to say, it's interesting that, as such loyal BSG fans, you're complaining about certain aspects of characters like that there's a "lack of heroes" and that "everyone is grey," when that's what made BSG so fascinating! Yeah, there was shooting and spaceships, but BSG was a good show because it had morally complex characters, and you never knew who to root for at any given time. The action was always secondary to the people.

  • Gotta see the remaining episodes!!! Like you said....brilliant episodes which should have aired first.....but like Sci-Fi series.....aka Star Trek series.....the first few episodes are always about getting to know the characters and where they came from.

I am truly disappointed after watching the last 5 episodes now....cause I know there'll be no more....but I so would have wanted to be there for Season 2, it was going places I wanted the BSG universe to explore.

  • BSG & Caprica weren't about spaceships & lightsabers, they were about human beings. Maybe you should go back and watch it all again. The reason Caprica failed? Maybe the ridiculous on again/off again scheduling? Or maybe it was just out of place on Syfy & expected too much depth from a shallow audience. Or maybe they just needed the time slot for a new wrestling show...

  • dude seriously the last 6 is amazing, it all make sense, help us save the show.. =]=]

    Please!!!!!
