No mystery here as to why Rubinstein does it better than all the rest. He and Luddie are Germanic.

@Samsaraguy Agreed!

Simply wonderful. This is how Moonlight Sonata is meant to be played. Kempff doesn't bring out its soul, and Horowitz beats on it. This piece should move you, and it should be haunting like moonlight. Rubenstein nails it. For me, anyways.

Even in the most beautiful of videos, trolls manage to ruin the lower portion of the page. It's like walking into a bar and noticing that assholes are standing at the counter waiting for someone to come order themselves a drink and say "arrow to the knee?"

@hpfreakje you are an angry little man

Wow, you need a thumbs up for that utterly original and creative comment?
Really, we all think you are so special and funny, please do continue.
Not only do I hope you will get an arrow in your small dark hole, I also hope it will rot and give you everlasting pain. Now stop trying and leave youtube. Forever.

they cut the thing off a little soon though if you ask me.

Loved it, until he rushed at the one place Beethoven added something different from his time in. Idk how to describe that part, it's near the end, but that's like the turning point in this song that needs to be slown down and enunciated. I'm not a genius and certainly not even comparable to Rubinstein. Just a picky observation. Artur Rubinstein truly plays this song the best out of everyone I've heard though :)

I used to be a pianist like him, but then I took and arrow to the knee..
Now this is definitely THE best version ever recorded. No fucking doubt.

Everything about music is completely subjective. As a pianist since four, I find the subtleties of this version, without a shadow of a doubt, the most poignant and moving of any version I have ever heard.
