@cebrough I disagree. His behavior while contemptible sometimes, he still had no NCAA violations, told off the lying media, graduated players and had an impeccable record of wins. Compared to a guy like Calipari Knight is a saint. You just don't find the former in a college basketball coach anymore. The players respected him.

As a proud IU alum from the Knight years I can say that Bobby Knight is still raging egomaniac and an embarrassment to IU. He was a great coach until the early 80s but the game and its players passed him by because he was utterly unadaptable and stuck in his own self-righteous worldview and the past. He's a contemptible man who is a part of history but has little relevance to the game as it's played today. Any Power Five team would crush the vaunted 70s teams today.

Ok, I'm a Purdue alum and I can now say in retrospect that Knight was awesome. He was the perfect villain, and when it came to competition he gave absolutely no quarter nor did he expect any. The icing on the cake was how he had no verbal filter whatsoever and just said exactly what was on his mind. Thanks for the memories, Bobby - the rivalry just hasn't been the same without you!
