Deer hunting action from the ground! Join Dave Skinner from Lost River Game Calls and camera man Seth Mannion as they bow hunt a monster whitetail in Southern Ohio. This buck is a true mature whitetail, a result of quality deer manangement. Stick around for this hunt as Dave grunts this rutting bruiser in to a decoy during the Ohio rut and sets his sights on getting a shot with his bow out of a double bull blind.

  • Hope you have a 40 yard pin and have practiced it next time you have the chance. I took one at 35 yards this past season with my Hoyt.

  • We've got 40 yard pins. We've learned thru years of experience that if you're not comfortable with a shot then don't shoot. Congrats on shooting one at 35 yards!

  • what a hog...look at the neck and body on that bruiser! i have never regretted letting go the shot (it is ethical) and even let an easy shot go to teach one idiot a lesson...i'd hunt with you any day (and i hunt alone)...

  • Thanks!

  • Great call on not taking an unethical shot. I hate getting on here and seeing people who call themselves hunters taking shots at multiple deer or shooting at deer that are lined up hoping to get two with one bullet. Hunting is about respect. Sometimes distance doesn't matter. When buck fever strikes even a twenty yard shot becomes unethical if you're shaking like a leave. Amazing deer and even better morality. Maybe you'll get another shot at him!

  • Thanks for the comment bal4405. You're absolutely right about having respect. Regardless of the outcome of the hunt, you can never forget that every opportunity is a gift and we should treat it like one!

  • if you dont think you can make the shot, good call on not lettin go....he more than likely will come back around...however, ya gotta keep quiet, lots of noise on cam, the deer can easily hear that....good luck!

  • good video..hell of a buck...its ok not to take a shot that your not comfortable with...never know, might come back tomorrow...but keep quiet...you can hear you so easily on camera, the deer can hear you ten times more...just a thoughts...good luck!

  • lol some spots it illegal to use salt licks

  • i took one at 35 to w/my hoyt

  • best shot for me 55 yards with a hoyt

  • His ears were back and he was coming but something spooked him. I think I would have grunted a few more times after he was spooked, maybe it would have enticed him to investigate the decoy more. Great video and good luck with him if he's still aound.

  • I respect you, I mean its hard to pass that up and too NOT let an arrow fly... But if you knew your not comfortable with that shot, and your willing not too shoot... thats cool man.

  • It wasnt the decoy. The guys in the blind were whispering and making noise the whole time and the deer was looking rite at them. Thats what scared it off.

  • There are deer like this around because of hunters like you and I, who when they aren't sure of the shot they dont take it. you cant just fling arrows out there when your not sure its a clean kill shot. My hats off to you sir!!

  • Thanks, Looking forward to seeing you with that nice buck on film next year with a big smile as you tell how you passed right through him! Good luck Friend.
