For those who can't pull the motor, just pull as hard as you can, it WILL come off (I have a Lite-On drive and it came off with enough force).
Any oil-based lube will work as long as you put not too much.
Once you're done cleaning off the gunk and lubing the motor, put it back in.
It will make a click sound and it will be all worth it.
And yes, if it happens again , just lube it whenever the motor is dry/sticky. Take care.

shouls i do this? I can move it slowly by hand. Would nor say it just real freely. . have a 2006 box. going to replace laser. thinking do this inside of opening back later. Has the black greese. i have WD40.
