@GatzVideo sad they had to change, i wish they would of been given the option of the long coats and 3/4 boots or too the newer bunker pants and coat, the nomex heats up so fast, not only does it keep heat out but it keeps in, also with the rubber boots u didn't have to worry about them being wet for the rest of the shift, especially if you are on a busier company, i wish they would petition to the get the old gear back

It probably didn't collapse because it's made of nothing but concrete, plaster, marble and brass. I worked in there after the fire with a restoration co., and I couldn't believe the solidness of that building. I don't think a wrecking ball would even take it down. You would have to implode the thing.

Did it collapse?

You have great videos!

Putting out one of those has to be a pain....

we do wear nomex turnout gear now, boots, then turnout pants and jacket. and there is a nomex shroud on ur helmet. in earlier days (before i was a firefighter) you would wear taller boots and a longer coat. You still have tall boots (jus below the knee) but they are still covered by turnout pants

I'm surprised it didn't collapse into its own footprint like WTC 7 which only had a few small fires in it.

I dont work for the fire department so I can't comment as to why they wore those, but I know they switched gear a short while ago.
