  • yes, a great band...met Clive in London (suburb) in 1974 while hitching thru Europe and saw ISB in Boston '71 and went to a party afterwards in some large colonial style house in Cambridge...where else did I see them?

Oh Woodstock '69...and Holy shit I forgot...but also saw them with the KInks...and at the Hammersmith with BeBop Deluxe, Fairport Convention, Gong, 10CC and..???? thanks great

  • yes, this is a pretty great example of how they could reinvent a song that was already really good - a thing they did many times live, but not always with this kind of success, and liqorice is especially good on this - martin.

  • @nagarjuna222able I used to go see Robin at the Bottom Line in the 70's and 80's. Last time was just after the release of Ten Of Songs, and I asked him to play "The Parting Glass" for his last tune. He played in with his Celtic Hat]rp and I was in tears. The room was silent. Glad to know we're all sill here, no-one has gone away! Loveout to ye!

  • @xrcjpx i saw them for the first time walking towards the folk boat an event on the waverley on the clyde.

i spotted them carrying their instruments and turned to my girlfriend and commented "i should have brought my guitar! how sad

  • These guys were a MAJOR influence on us. Every song completely unique. Great instrumentation, of course. "Ducks on a Pond" was the first song I ever learned! Been trying to emulate them ever since. If you like them, check us out at "The Bairds" We have 7 videos up thus far. I saw Robin at the Bottom Line in NYC - they don't come any more creative.

  • A very great band.Mike and Robin are marvellous musiciens. And,I think,Robin is in the Guinest record for the most instruments he can play!!I'm a FAN!!

  • What was so good about them was that they seemed to play because they enjoyed playing not because it was a performance. That rubbed off on the audience - watching them was a joy.

  • @xrcjpx WOW.... Gong and ISB together. That would BLOW MY MIND.

  • Extraordinary! Rose on organ and Mike on bass- I didn't expect that- but what a great version of a song Mike still dusts down, from time to time.

  • Those were the days !

    Really a magic decade.

Everyone was positve, creative and loving. Now we just have the memories

  • @vonroon23

Check out the heavy rock version (also 1970) of the ISB's "Maybe Someday" by legendary rock band (also from Edinburgh) HUMAN BEAST. Google away!
