Meet the cast of Cosi

The Arts Centre Gold Coast and Soapbox Theatre Productions present Cosi.

After a sold out season of Shakespeare's The Taming of The Shrew in February this year, Soapbox has proven its ability to produce challenging and contemporary pieces with director James Kable at the healm, Cosi is sure to be an exciting process. Currently working as Artistic Associate with physical theatre company Zen Zen Zo, Kable has also directed productions with QUT, La Boite Theatre Company and Lasalle, The College of Art in Singapore.

This light-hearted, yet intensely real drama, has captured Australian audiences since it was first staged in 1992. Set during the Vietnam War, we follow the character Lewis into a mental institution where he finds himself directing the patients in the opera, Cosi Fan Tutte. This is a challenge to say the least, amidst each individual's neurosis, not many can sing and no one speaks Italian. Norwa's play explores the timeless themes of madness, love and transformation.

When asked why Cosi was Soapbox Theatre Production's next choice, Artistic Director Jessica Westhead smiled and replied, 'we're a cheeky and playful group of artists doing a play about a group of madmen trying to put on a play. It just fits. It's going to be a lot of fun.'




Soapbox Theatre Productions are an ensemble based theatre company of musicians, actors, writers and visual artists. They are excited to see who is 'mad' enough to join them.
