...I suspect therefore that more changes are on the way due to the relentless demands of urbanization and globalization.
What can we do then to preserve the endangered cultural and linguistic heritage of the Agaw?
My personal challenge is the study of the language which I am ashamed to say I am neither able to speak nor understand it.
Regretting my past sloth, I am now determined to pick up the study of the language of my ancestors making this my new year’s commitment.
What about you?

Thank God that the old Cushitic language of the Agaw survives (marginally though) and is still being spoken In Gojam,Gondar,Wollo,Tigray and Eritrea.
It seems to me that,of all the Agaw families,the Agaw sub-culture and dialect prevailing in Gojam interestingly shows the least changes.
Still,this, I understand, is a very transitory picture.
The ‘modernization’ of Agaw songs using European Musical instruments,as shown in this video for example,attests to the ongoing cultural mutation...
