Finally, I get around to doing a full cover of this extremely awesome song :)
There are multiple mistakes, and some obvious frustration on my part, but it was very fun to do and to showcase the new tone i made :)

I used my brothers (SHHHH) AX260 with stock LH301 ESP pickups, through my Pod X3 - utilising the modified "8 String Rhythm" (Big Bottom) patch i used for Straws Pulled at Random (LESS TREBLE/GAIN, MORE MIDS!!). This was the 2nd take, as my first take sucked so much balls... i had to do it again.

Enjoy!

  • Wrong tuning man.

  • @PLAZ1990s the old version of this song, which is what i used was out of tune. it WAS Eb standard with the bottom string dropped to B, but then that was slightly out of tune cos Misha was on holiday in mauritius and had a shit guitar to record it in.

the ACTUAL tuning is D standard with the bottom string dropped to Bb.

plus it doesnt help that in this video i could not play for shit.

  • @HCXanithon I know what the tuning is. I play Periphery too.

But what your saying. Is when Bulb FIRST recorded this song. He recorded it in Eb with 6th string dropped to B? And then later, He decided to tune it down??

  • @PLAZ1990s assumedly being on holiday at home with a meh guitar that cant stay in tune. he tuned it down so that it would be in the D standard with dropped A# so that it was comfortable to change between the tunings:

Drop C, D Standard with Dropped A# (for this) and D Standard with Dropped A (for Zyglrox) - assumedly its for continuity issues between tunings of the songs.

imagine playing Buttersnips in Drop C, then having to change to Eb Standard with dropped B for this song. not optimal.

  • @PLAZ1990s you can compare the tracks if you want.

  • great job man!

only one thing, the run right after 0:15 is 3, 6, 1 (fret numbers) on what would be the low e... the tab is wrong... yeah, i was pissed to.

go watch bulbs vid and see if there are any other things wrong with the tab...because thats about all my clumsyass could catch :P

  • @iclipseco yeah this cover is horrible IMO. i'm actually going to be doing a re-record of this with a better tone, plys my new(ish) guitar with Bareknuckle Aftermath in it.

also going to use the album version, cheers for checking the video man. i don't use the tab for this song anymore. most of it i learned from that video and other videos. but ofc i wasn't perfect etc. so yeah

the re-cover will be much tighter trust me. :)

  • you have spidery alien face hugger phalanges

  • Very good job! I can pay it to1:17 but then I gave up hehe...

Really tight tone you got there too! Is it because of some pro-ish pickups or your amp..? I'd love to have that tone!

    Once again really good job

see all

  • @dragon2712

oh maybe, i have only heard the one on the album :P

  • @iclipseco Actually, I think Bulb's original demo of this was 3, 6, 2. He changed it to 1 a little later!

  • @HCXanithon I don't need to compare. I can compare them without even listening to it again. I could hear the first time that it is basically a half step up from the Album version.

  • @HCXanithon Thanks dude. I kept getting teased about holding my pick differently.
