This term "propshaft seemed to originate in europe, because most european manuals (bmw, merc, jag for sure) tend to refer to driveshafts as propshafts. So it would seem that the terms are totally interchangable.
more power i would thing since your losing a little bit of power transferring to the front wheels, but then you lose traction due to no AWD, i would just stick with AWD :)
