Brian Eno On Barry Lyndon

how the hell could critics find it boring . i can understand someone who watches crap and someone stupid not liking it but a critic . i loved it and im not a pure intellectual

I love BL for certainly all the usual reasons cited (compelling story, stunning visuals and lighting, etc), but I laud it as one of the most historically "accurate" films simply by nature of its pacing. Yes, it is slow, but life WAS slow then compared to comtemporary times. I completely agree that this beautiful work is lost on the current ADHD generation. Take some TIME to absorb it and immerse yourself in it!

Well said hughemr...Kids turn off your cell phones a smell the roses just for a while...I just imagine myself riding on that grass road and pulling up to the "ale house" ...Ahhhh if only one had a time machine....Currently i am trying to cut out the digital excess of life (i've got rid of cable tv etc) and try and live the slow life....take care !....

That's awesome that Eno likes Barry Lyndon, but he doesn't seem like he understands the movie very well!

He is so right! I'm really happy somone as bright as Eno agrees with me, Barry Lyndon is the best movie of all time.

barry lyndon is disliked primarily by those who have the attention span of a chihuahua.

There were no custom lenses ground for this film. Kubrick used Zeiss lenses that were designed for use in satellites.
