Movies are not connected to the story in anyway. How future trunks gets his sword is still a mystery. All we know is it was crafted by an master sword maker. Present trunks doesn't uses a sword ever in the show in the intro you see him swing it at something but you never see him uses it. Again movies do not connect to the tv show in anyway there in my opinion extra story line the wanted to make changes things up a little.

@Dmitriman123 in the actual series trunks tell goku that killing the androids in their time would not affect the future trunks' timeline, and he says it again when piccolo fights cell the first time. hence he had to kill all of them in his own time. so future trunks' timeline and history is completely different from the plot in the series. plus everyone but trunks is dead and the dragonballs are gone, which they used to open the box, but anyway the movies have nothing to do with series supposly

@Dmitriman123 though that wouldn't change a thing because of how much age difference there is to future trunks and the trunks you see in this video, which means Hildegarn would have either already came to earth but left right after since it was dead basically or he just never shown up.

The reason to that is multiple times and spaces. The future trunks that had the sword was the trunks from the future AFTER they killed cell and the androids while trunks was still a baby. Therefore the future trunks with the sword was actually this trunks you see in the movie, from the future.
