Notice these simulations are always done with the asteroid/meteor/
comet striking the Earth directly. Small chance of that.
At 25,000+mph its much more likely the object would "skip" off either
Earth's atmosphere, oceans or land and go flying off out into space.
Of course the area where it "skipped" would be utter destruction but
the Earth itself would be spared.
Like a high powered rifle bullet is much more apt to be deflected
by a leaf in the woods than a slower lead ball from a shotgun

Yes, some of you have had a rough time, I am mindful of that at this time of year. Am I 'lucky' having lived the life I have? No, it is where my parents put me, simple, should I be punished for this life I have? Why? What did I do? I have children, they have children, we live in a country my forefathers & mothers built on Christian ideals, things have over the generations been blessed by God, I am grateful for this for real.

@daedster1 Well, I'll start by saying this; I was in a depressed mind state while posting this comment. but to answer your question, would be a bit more complicated than I think you'd expect. I don't have any family. and my extended family doesn't know I exist. details are not necessary. The reason behind my hope would be to end the suffering though I suppose this wouldn't work quite that way. At least, not quickly.... now... a gamma blast from our 8,000 light year away star "wormwood"...
