I fully endorse your views , to play a diatonic think PF the song you know best try to sing it couple of times then start playing trying to sing the same song thru your Harp you will be amazed you can do it.

Good ol navy, i like his stories and he is fundamentally correct with his delivery, What he is saying in a nutshell is feel out that Mo Jo, you will know you touched it when you pick up your harp and your head has music in it b4 you even blow on it. good tuition if you have raw talent and just want to connect.
