Very well thought out and presented! I would bet that the reason Mr Black is stuck as Locke is because that was Locke's reason for being on the island, he was chosen and maybe once he was free from the cabin he could used the healing water (or something similar) to become flesh and blood again instead of a ghost

i've got a theory: maybe jacob's touching is just to spread the sickness from the island, which is the same sickness of Sayid, Rousseau's team, and so and so forth...
this is not about choices he changed about those people, this is about concentration all the carriers of the sickness to the island. this explains why pregnant women cant beget babies...

@FindLostWithCarmel: your theory is mostly right from my perspective, but I believe we are all watching the obvious and ignoring it, Locke in the alternate time line, is actually Men In Black (the smoke monster)
Back in season 5 when FLocke was always telling that he was "the same man" they all knew, he was obviously lying, and you can definitely see a very different character in this new John Locke.

i didn't understand how john lock in the alternate timeline could be MIB. it seems the island was sunk long before and oceanic never got there.

Carmel,
I love how you see things. I watch every week.
Like you, I believe MIB is lying, but you have forgotten one thing.
Sawyer can see right through him, almost literally. Sawyer has never been a follower, nor will he start now.
I think Sawyer is conning MIB as well. Sawyer already noticed MIB lying about seeing the boy. That is a red flag for any conman.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

can you con Ben? the old Ben, i mean? i believe that the similarities between the walk Ben did with Sawyer and the one flock does now point to the fact flock is assuming Ben's role as the mega manipulator and Sawyer lost to him back than.
