This is a video tutorial which explains how to achieve a slow motion effect by de-interlacing video using the frames to fields processor to create 50fps video from a 25i source. The final video only has half the vertical resolution of the original but on cheap camcorders this isn't very noticeable. Once a clip is on YouTube the loss of resolution is almost completely irrelevant.

  • That's an interesting way of getting your slow-mo effect.

Another way, which I think is simpler, is to use the video effect "Reframe RT" ... Just place it on the timeline of your movie and adjust it to the segment that you want to slow (or speed).

    Works for me :-)

  • @jmackenz51au That works, but doesn't provide any extra temporal resolution. The method explained in the video gives you double the temporal resolution at the cost of vertical spacial resolution.
