It was written about a mentally insane person who he saw on a merry-go-round going around and around. He was dragged off the merry-go-round into a mental institution. He says that he thought, "Well, what will his family think when they can't find him and don't know where he's gone."

In a live version, Vince introduces the song as one about "a guy who did a little bit too much, too soon and too fast. You'all better watch out, or you'll wind up at the merry-go-round."
