The tea partiers were primarily independents and disillusioned democrats that liked Ron Paul's message primarily on smaller government in all aspects (drugs, illegal wars, attack on civil liberties). It got co-opted by the crazy wing of the GOP (Palin, Bachmann) and now stands for teaching Creationism, calling Obama a Marxist, and giving tax breaks to the rich. If the people who support this movement don't see it, they are misinformed at best, they are being played for suckers.

Cmurf78, I wonder how many Republicans would run on a platform to eliminate child labor laws, unemployment compensation, overtime laws, and worker's safety laws? The anwser is zero because if they would the general population would run them out of town on a rail. Not even the propaganda of conservative talk radio and Fox News could save the Republicans if they would run on this platform.

What an ignorant comment. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU to tell me that I don't look hard enough or my father or anyone else for a job when they have been laid off in the past. Many jobs, are in manufactoring and healthcare where these laws apply. These laws were needed because of coorperate greed and therefore we need a government to be our watchdog if you knew anything about history. Capitalism left alone results in slave like working conditions for the general masses.
