A dark surreal reverie on the consequences of alcohol abuse in which David Evans is taken on a journey of repressed guilt and depression.

"This is a poetic and both visually and aurally atmospheric film, playing with suspense and expectation with aplomb. Perhaps the conclusion is abrupt and somehow expected but this does not dampen the visceral quality of the film at all." Wyndham Price

Cheyne-Stoking shortlisted at the Re'Pe'Fe'Ne festival in Katowice - Poland, the Encounters Film Festival in Bristol, FFRESH in Aberystwyth, Wales and EatOurShorts fesitval in London.

This is the first edit of my surrealist graduation film which takes an allegorical look at the consequences of alcohol abuse and repressed guilt.

Heavily influenced by surrealism and abstract expressionism (a la David Lynch, Luis Bunuel, Maya Deren, Fritz Lang etc, etc), our objective was to create a dreamy vision to entice invitations that explore experiential reasons beyond the boundaries of ordinary rational consciousness and personal identity.

I've recently added a counter-style documentary about my Re'Pe'Fe'Ne Film Festival experience. You can see it at

Thoughts, ratings and comments would be greatly appreciated! Many many thanks for watching...

  • I love this film, Darko - haunting, poetic and visually amazing.

It's so refreshing to find films with substance in a medium saturated with shit!

Nice work, I look forward to seeing more of like this.

  • Awesome comment and couldn't agree with you more about the shit plastered around the net! I'm trying very hard to keep some integrity with film - plan to shoot my first "proper" movie in three weeks...surreal take on a former psychiatric hospital in East Prussia...dark history, dark fucking place...it's taken me eight months to get everything prepared so fingers crossed and I'll certainly keep you posted! Cheers dude, you 'da man!

  • Hey there, as such the film has been nominated for an award so I'm unsure as to whether we can allow the score to be used for something else. Sorry but thanks for asking! Your comments are well appreciated and please keep them coming! Darko

  • Nice short man!

    I like the ending.

I think the music was good as well, if a little bit too repetetive (though that could be intentional I guess).

    Well done though. :D

  • Hey hey, thanks for the message fiat131abarth1 (crazy name but cool!). yeah the music is great, captures the feeling rather well. A Polish friend of mine calls the atmosphere strange in climate. Pretty interesting...

  • Congrats on getting this featured! That's not so easy to do especially in the F&A category, with all the Anime and cartoon episodes. Nice!

  • Hey MoTiOnOciTy, thanks for the congrats amigo...really appreciate it! Have you got any more new animations in progress? Let me know when you have something new! I'll also subscribe to your channel! Enjoying your work a great deal...Regards for now! Darko

  • I have never seen such movies. It is my first and in my opinion it can draw attention of a viewer. A very good music, that connects with a black and white picture.I am curious what can the red baaloon symbolise.Hmmm I am thinking what is this movie about.. and my first idea is abortion. Am I right? :)

  • Hey once again this is a very good film. Are you entering it into festivals? If you have, have you had some success?

    All the best,

  • listen to this with Alex Jones and David Icke in the latest interview on the Alex Jones channel.

    It´s so psychedelic!

  • great sound! Goes perfectly with the picture.

  • hmm interesting and truthful :)

  • You create such a persuasive picture of delirium tremens, with all its characteristic symptoms. Indeed the world of an alkoholic is black and white, scary, full of fear, anxiety and hallucinations /geat scene with the glass!/. All he can see are the two dead end corridors, with no way out of his addiction. The only colorful thing is the red balloon; the symbol of hope and dreams. But unfortunately it explodes in the end, so the pattern of drinking starts all over again...

    Very impressive!!

  • huge congratulations for entering big festivals like

    Encounters Film Festival in Bristol
