  • How stupid! Rossini tenors HAVE to have an easy C ...... that is what they are famous for, after all. A mes amis is not a (technical) difficult aria if you have the C, so why do these programmes always "showcase" that aria with hihgly acclaimed Rossini tenors?? Grrrrrrr

  • I'm appalled by how opera awakens such snobbery among its aficionados. No two voices are the same, and it's naive, if not downright idiotic, to expect one singer to match another perfectly in every attribute; therefore, to select one singer as the paragon by which all others will be measured is not only unfair to singers but also harmful to their craft. The beauty of music lies in its interpretation, and rejecting diverse voices thwarts the creative avenues that engender this beauty.

  • @inyourface668 Ughhh...Yes!! ...those pesky Italians!!!.They ONLY composed 75% of all the very best Operas and gave us 85% of the greatest singers, painters, architects, literature, sculptors ever...How dare they!!...Tsk...tsk...lest erase them all from the history of music and other Arts.Who needs them??? (Grrrr.... :~p )

  • High notes...top notes..TSsssss!!! All relative.BEFORE that high C there are 100 thousand notes that have to fall into place aided and constructed like a house of cards. After the note leaves the mouth there is no way to take it back.Cracking a note, missing a bit of legato, singing off tempo.NO SINGER IS PERFECT!!! Only machines are perfect...and they also fail.Comparing singers is like comparing stars in the firmament:useless and without purpose.Pseudo Opera lovers always have a popular favorite!

  • Caruso never had a stable top C.

  • *Who* is/was a great tenor... I do not wish to be unkind here...

  • High C is the approximate top for heavier fachs like the dramatic or spinto tenors. However, lyric and leggiero tenors (like myself) are called to have an extension above that, sometimes high Db, Eb, or even in one case, a high F! These notes are those that truly define rossini tenors such as JDF.

Putting all tenors under the umbrella of "Top C" is foolish. Some might not have it, and some might have a fifth above it.

  • I thought i was a baritone...but i can hit C5, not really sustain it it usally goes to D5 but I can hit it : ))

  • ugh... italians

  • is that corelli at 00:50 ?
