Now this mag is out of the ordinary, near A4 sized it is seriously dangerous in sun light. I estimate that it probably works to an equivilant of 250mW or more laser!

  • you can buy a slightly bigger one at officemax for 8 dollars

  • @iminyourbasement this was quite an old one lol - just get hold of some old over head projectors. Some of those lens have high ring densities, so high infact that when the reflection mirror is left closed when the light is left on actually burns and melts the plastic casing around the mirror XD!!!

  • where did u get tht?

  • @kilerngbayan247 my late aunty gave it to me and my bro when we were around 4 foot tall - not knowing the power of the lens at the time, me and my bro had the funiest of times. One scenario had us around an old metal collender with dried leaves and wood - 10 seconds later it had about two industrial sized bags of sand on it. Gooooood times.

  • could you magnify the beam from a magnifying glass with another to get an even more powerful/concentrated one?

  • @danieljordanpatrick yes that is possible but if you try it with 2 freznel lens you would burn / melt the second one trying to focus further lol - just use a standard magnifying glass if you want to evoke a secondry focus.

  • It would be a nice to try and build a grid of Thermocouples with those concentrating the sun on them.

  • Perfect for bong hoots =3

  • Darth Vader wants to seize control of that for his new Death Star

  • OH NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!MY EYES ARE BURNING

  • i got one smaller than that but its 5mm thick so it dosent bend and every single bit of light gets concentrated onto a spot about 2mm across :D melted some rocks in my backyard thank god for the Australian hot sun. this thing literally made wood catch on fire instantly.

  • I have a 50 inch one from an old projector tv, I put together a wood frame. This thing melts coins. I got it on ebay, there is a store that sells them to do solar powerd cooking.

  • Isn't that just a fresnel lens?

  • type in solar death ray, kip kay got a magnifying glass like this, only the size af a large flat screen TV, it melts stuff instantly.

  • @physicmad lol ur auntie is cheap!!!! if u get a tv and get the glass thingy on the front.... they could be a giant magnifying glass

  • hey can ants melt under a magnifying glass? cuz i just killed one on my "fake wood"(soft rubbery things) and the head seens to come off and now theres a red/yellow dot that looks alot like a pimple on my floor
