@padenmtjr thnx for the reply, I was just a kid when Chet became in influence in my playing, he was so clean I thought there was no way he would "stoop to using a capo"...remember I was a kid here. Story: Joe Walsh thought George Harrison did And Your Bird Can Sing in one take without overdubs! Took 6 months to learn the double stops, then George told him he didn't record it that way....same thing here I guess.

Thanks for the info he sure was a great picker

@chester777ful That's a Boudleaux Bryant tune not Jerry Reed, but it's still brilliant

so amazing

@steveyraynelson Chet was all about the sound and perfection. He used a capo once and a while on certain songs to get it to sound a certain way. pitch to be correct to blend with the way he wanted. Not to make it easy

Another Jerry Reed tune played so greatly buy Chet he was a superb picker

Still the greatest!

I would never use a capo thinking that Chet never did....until I saw him play live. It was always with me, What Would Chet Do?

A quote from "Chet Atkins: Me and my guitars":
Years from now, after I'm gone, someone will listen to what I've done and know I was here. They may not know or care who I was, but they'll hear my guitars speaking for me, and maybe they'll understand something. That's the way it's supposed to be. The players come and go, but the music lives on, and eternity will take care of the rest."
