This a 3 or 4 jeep convoy from the 2/17 FA headed North from Camp Radcliff on Route 508 to coordinate artillery fires and assist infantry advisors to Popular Forces at three triangular (more or less) forts. These small teams of infantry were in the forts with South Vietnamese popular forces to help in training and provide artillery and logistic support. However, they the teams themselves did not have much experience bringing in artillery fire (as we found when we received a fire mission from one OP and had to give some quick lessons over the radio on how to bring in and adjust artillery fire using only a lensatic compass. The 2/17 Battalion commander, LTC Cantrell, decided to lead 2/17 teams out to the OP's to help train them. Hence, this mission on film. All this was even before Vietnamization officially began in 1969
