NEWS UPDATE: Fugitive Zinkhan's Body Found - May 9, 2009

The Athens-Clarke County police have found a body matching the description of George Zinkhan that has been missing for two weeks since murdering three people at a local community theater. The GBI is currently testing the body that was found to identify it with that of George Zinkhan. The body was found after an apparent suicide and buried. The police say that the victim buried his own body under dirt and debris in an effort to keep it from being found.

Because he is dead there are many answers that we will just never know during this story. But at least we know his kids did not see the actual shooting as he took them to the car before returning with the guns. They did not have any indications of what was going on as far as reports to the media went. In some respects they are lucky that they did not have to watch their father kill their mother like so many children victims of crimes like this do.

According to the ACCPD they believe that George Zinkhan buried himself within a shallow grave and covered himself before his death in order conceal his body. The dogs used today are different from those used in the initial search that discovered his truck. The truck was found and tracking dogs were used. The dogs today were specifically looking for dead bodies in an expanded area outside of the original location. Hope this clears up the questions. The body has been confirmed to be his.

I think George Zinkhan pulled off the crime of the century. The dead body found off Fowler Mill Rd. Bogart Ga was not George Z's body .Was DNA evidence ever taken by the GBI? Not.

i knew Tom Tanner, Ben Teauge, and Marie Bruce an i will miss them all, i was down the street when this incident happened and i was sitting outside on my friends house porch and i heard a few loud bangs. i instantly knew that something bad had happened and i waited for my frined to get done using the bathroom and we walked down the street and police cars were just getting there. I remeber seeing those bodies just lying there and i almost cried. I miss them so much. My other friends dad was Tom T

I walked in the woods where Zinkhans' remains were found. It seems so strange that he would actually stop at his house to grab a shovel to bury himself with. He must not have known much about the terrain and lay of the land.here.There are many deep ravines and gullies that he could have jumped into to shoot himself. I think he killed himself Fri. may 1 or Satur. may 2. I was sitting outside one of those nights and I heard one single gunshot. I live a close to where he was found.

Yes its very fortunate the kids didn't witness this. I guess there was just enough love/sanity left in him that he didn't kill his children too. But I can't imagine the pain the kids will feel growing up without their parents. Senior proms, graduation, college, getting married, your first newborn. So many milestones they will not get to have their parents there for. It just absolutely breaks my heart. And I agree, check medical records, that kind of stuff is so very important on so many levels.

This is another sad story. Bruce and Zinkhan are both professional and accomplished individuals. While other folks away from the western world are trying to survive from poverty, some serious problems are creeping in this powerful nation. RIP =(

Does anyone know if Zinkhan was taking or withdrawing from SSRI anti depression medication ?.His medical records can and should be checked. I saw him and talked to him briefly at my place of employment a week before the murders. I did not know who he was. By his scruffy appearance I never dreamed that he was a professor. What a sad tragedy for all involved.

He was in pain and just wanted to disappear from the face of the Earth. He was probably in a highly depressed state.

The kids would still get an inheritance even if they never found the body....after a period of time in which there is no sign of him, the court would rule him dead and give the children their inheritance.
