I suggest wearing safety glasses and gloves. Insert a rod to counter the pressure, although ya don't have to push real hard with the drill. Use a metal file to sand smooth any sharp edges around the hole.

  • hi did you ever finish the couch and pillows you were going to make?

  • I made one, it fits well and looks ok but having learned from the first attempt I'm thinking I could make an even better one. For the time being I've simply put craft project aside. Might work on it sometime over the summer.

  • I noticed there was a smaller hole drilled into the bottom before you completed the larger one. Was the smaller hole drilled first to help prevent the bottle from cracking?

  • No...there must be an illusion of sorts as I had not drilled a smaller hole. I'm thinking if that were tried it would weaken the bottle. Btw... I've enjoyed all of your IDOJ posts both on youtube and Brain's fans' site. (aka OhMaster over there)

  • GOOD JOB. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT ?

  • I'm going to make a sofa and some pillows. It won't be as elaborate as Shannon's furnished bottle but similar. Because the 1964 smoke Beam is more difficult to see through I wanted to try the idea inside a 1973 clear decanter.

  • this is just brilliant.........yes a sofa and a tiny jeannie maybe the hallmark jeannie oranament would be perfect for the bottle! did you ever finish your sofa?

  • Nice 1973 clear decanter there. I got 3 Jim Beam 1964 Decanters. One is painted like the Second Season Jeannie Bottle, one is not painted and still had it's both labels, the other one is not painted either and it doesn't have it's labels. They are smoke green bottles and doesn't have their stoppers though. The painted one has its stopper. I ordered an Old Grand Dad Stopper for the plain bottle as I'm going to paint it like the First Season Bottle. You can see them in 2 of my video's.

  • Such memories! Congratulations on your "push" through the bottle. I don't know if this is the ideal way to do it... I have since thought that there must be a wet saw that could do this. But this is EXACTLY the way I did it. Thanks for sharing - I'd love to see the furnished result! :)
