Amtrak's Southwest Chief Part 1: Chicago, IL to La Junta, CO

Hey YouTubers! I'd like to invite you on the next segment of my summer 2010 cross-country journey aboard Amtrak!

This is the first segment of our ride on Amtrak's Westbound Southwest Chief and it will take you from Chicago, Illinois to La Junta, Colorado! Our La Junta stop is a good breaking point in the trip and the next part will pick up as we leave La Junta after a few intermittent clips of our activities during our unscheduled extended stay in town!

This video was shot right after I first got a video camera so please excuse the sloppiness and shakiness. I figured I'd share for the experience and not so much the professionalism!

Nice video brings back alot of memories.When I was a kid in the early to mid 1980's used to ride it from chicago to flagstaff every year.The superliners were new in phase II and phase III.F-40ph's and alot of ex-santa fe hilevels.Same classic route except Chi-Galesburg and it was called the Southwest Limited back then.

Very nice video! Some great stuff here. This is the only true way to see the country without having to drive. Speaking of that I need to plan more trips on Amtrak. All I ever ride is the regional from to time between BWI and NY Penn station.
