Right! A lot of these old techno-fantasies operated on the idea of "take something non-electronic and make it electronic" even if it's unnecessary and inefficient. Some things (non-electronic, wooden cabinets) never go out of style! The device that lowers the dishes....a) I'd worry something would get broken b) it doesn't hold much.

    Stil fun to watch, though!

Gee, if they could invent that stuff just for that house, then why didin't they share these inventions with the rest of the world? I'm sure a lot of people would love the adjustable sink.

Why would anyone want TO WAIT for dishes to remotely be lowered out of a cabinet? They got it WRONG on this one. Electric toothbrush was about the only thing they got right, but that wasn't any big stretch at the time this film was made. Certainly not the elevating bathroom sink. Ridiculous.

Magazine stories and TV shows in the 50's often featured "the world of the future".

Almost none of the stuff they predicted ever came about (except that infected electric toothbrush). And not one of them predicted. PCs, Ipods, CDs, or $4 a gallon gasoline. I never saw a prediction that all cars, all public buildings and most homes would have.....air conditioning. Thanks for posting - it is a kick to see how wrong they were.
