Hungary faces EU action over divisive constitution

First protesters accuse the government of tyranny, now they have taken to the streets to support the embattled PM. This report explores the constitutional changes that have driven Budapest into chaos.

In April 2010, Victor Orban's Fidesz party swept to power, elected on a promise of stability, security and a strengthened economy. However, the party's enormous majority granted them vast legislative power and the ability to unilaterally change the constitution. Since then they have been accused of over-reaching their democratic mandate: "If all Orban's plans are realised, a new system will be created that will not have a single constitutional counterweight". Supporters defend the moves claiming, "the impression our government gives is deceptive, because the system we have is different to the rest of Europe". However, amidst tough austerity measures, and new media laws curtailing political discussion, claims of democratic legitimacy are not entirely convincing.

@iwontupload You did. Its name was NSDAP, its same as Jobbik in Hungary and partially Fidesz which adopt lot of Jobbik laws and their rhetoric to control masses.

If the EU comission continues behaving like a ganster instrument of a corrupt stablishment dominated by banks that don't care about the people and lead countries to bankrrupcy just to buy them for a few coins latter, in complicity with politicians (coincidentlly socialist as the EU comission member are), the only sinking "state" we will see in a few years is the EU

As I was saying, the name "Jobbik" in Hungarian implies not only right, but better as in "a better Hungary", which is their primary goal.

Also I would ask the left-wing viewers of this video not to blame the actions of fascist and neo-nazi groups on the Hungarian government, as they themselves have declared several times that they want nothing to do with the government. Just as you wouldn't blame the actions of the American Nazi Party on Barack Obama's Government. Also the Jobbik, is not fascist, they are simply right-wing and nationalistic and should not be affiliated with the Nazis. In fact their name "Jobbik" implies "

This is a complete fail. You all have no idea what sort of system was in Hungary before. For example, they would have beaten people on the streets for a demonstration such as this. And who's government was that? The EU's 'liberal" government who's top priority was to sell out Hungary to the IMF and to big countries like France and England and make it a bankrupt country like Greece or Romania. Now Hungary has a strong DEMOCRATIC gov. and they don't like it they want to put it down.
