Lessons from Chornobyl - 25 Years Later (Dr. Arjun Makhijani)

As part of a presentation "Lessons from Chernobyl: 25 Years Later," speakers presented information on the short- and long-term environmental and public health impacts of the 1986 Chornobyl catastrophe. In addition, there were presentations on how the lessons of Chornobyl affect energy and nonproliferation policies today and the challenges and risks of nuclear power. The event included expert speakers and participants from a variety of relevant fields including nuclear engineering, environmental affairs, public health, arms control and nonproliferation, government, academia, private industry, and the NGO community.
