  • People are being taken care of by agencies dedicated to the relief of human misery, who do not have the time, resources or expertise to take care of your dog's broken leg, or supply you with a leash or food for your animal. In times of conflict or disaster, pets or livestock are last on the list, but the owners care about or need these animals to provide comfort or future income. Caring for an animal also gives a sense of accomplishment and control in a time of chaos.

  • @moarla of course there are people who are in desperate situations. but this is an animal rescue organization. their whole purpose is to help animals. so when there is a disaster, they help the animals, especially since the few resources that haiti, in particular, has at the moment, are going towards the people. its not that best friends doesnt love humans as well, but this is their purpose. and if they could make a difference for those animals in need, then they will. ya know?

  • thank you for the work you are doing. animals have feelings and families too.

  • gov. arnold voice: its not a TUMORRRRRRRRRRR

  • AWESOME WORK GUYS. If these countries would learn to spay their animals there wouldn't be so much suffering.

  • @Cat919 very well said. i agree.

  • Great work guys!!!!

  • I wonder why do many people are giving you a thumbs down score for being concerned about people? Moarla, they are there for the publicity. If they really cared about humanity they would have spent their thousands of dollars helping the Haitians.

  • Great work! I agree with Cat919 there are agencies specifically dedicated to helping people, and they are in Haiti. Then there are those agencies working to help the animals. :)

  • Don't forget that these pets will help treat the mental trauma of both adults and children. Now that the immediate search and rescue effort has been completed groups such as these can come in and help the people in ways that aren't direct but will help in the long term.

  • Some people have lost their pets. I'll bet they're glad to help the animals. I'll bet it helps them to help something else.

  • Thank you Best Friends :)
