Europe wants green energy and low-priced fat. To meet these demands, international conglomerates build oil palm plantations as far as the eye can see -- and cut down the rainforest in exchange. Sustainability certificates and eco-labels are meant to set the consumers' minds at ease. However, this documentary from Indonesia shows that sustainability does not exist: Wilmar International, the world's biggest palm oil supplier, clear-cuts the Indonesian rainforest without legal permits, contaminates rivers and lakes and uses force to drive people off their homesteads -- all this in the face of sustainability certificates.

  • Palm oil production is destroying rainforests. The only safe way is if we ALL stop buying products with palm oil, including: biscuits toothpaste, spreads, chocolate bars and so much more.

    A palm oil free diet???!?

  • mrjohnhaters watch this video. So Indonesians have the right to use their land for agricultural purposes? Of course they do. That is one of the main points this video makes: Indonesians are being driven off their agricultural lands, and the forest they also depend on, so that a big company can make profits without even compensating them, and so that we in Europe can have cheap palm oil. Like you say, it's their land, i.e. the land of the local people, but their rights to it are not respected.

  • Shameful, just shameful. I am sharing this...

  • THIS HAPPEN ONLY AT INDONESIA...... STUPID

  • so what? just because it is the LAST rainforest, Indonesian doesn't have the rights to use their land for agricultural purposes? What are they supposed to do? Be a lawyer in the midst of a jungle? Oil palm is the only profitable, sustainable way they can think of to make a living. Why is Kalimantan the last rainforest? Because Europeans has all depleted their forest resources and now they want people to keep forests for them. This is hypocrisy. It's their land, and they have rights to use it.

  • I should not of clicked like, as I do not like this whatsoever, this is disgusting, everyone witha conscience should share this video.
