@bronco590 When you become a PJ you have two type of units you could be assigned to. The Rescue Sqadron is the sqadron consisting of nothing but PJ's that do (CSAR) and (SAR) missions. Or if you want and if you get through the extra selection process, you will go to AST (Advance Skill Training). It is there that PJ, CCT (Combat Control) and Combat Weathermen are teamed up together to make the U.S. Airforce STS (Special Tactics Teams).
@bronco590 Then Special Tactics Team also do CSAR missions along with Direct Action Missions like Capture/Kill and direct assult missions. And They are often teamed up with other special ops teams from sisters services like delta or seals.
and how long and hard is AST? cause yea I want to be in Afghanistan doing high risk missions over there and not peace corps missions here in the states
@bronco590 I'm pretty sure that the AST is another 3 plus months or so... and i do imagine it is hard (with the nature of the job and all) like you i am still currently training on becoming a PJ. Just remember they say the training is 20% Physical and 80% mental! so as long as you can pass the PJ P.A.S.T. test and have a don't quit attitube maybe i'll see you there!
Whats the difference btwn Special Tactics Squadron (STS) and Rescue Squadron (RQS) for PJs
