PMDG 747-400 & FSX "Short Landing" at KMGY

This system is my alternate and specs are pretty mediocre. One thing about this one is I successfully installed Direct X 10 even though it is XP (No noticeable differences since it is really meant for Vista). My main system is down while I await coolant :'( (See my vid "Big Blue")
I wanted to make this video mainly to return the favor to all of those who posted their Flight Sim vidz, as well as to show some of PMDG's detail and realism to those who may be debating on a good add-on. I also did it to get reacquainted with Adobe Premiere and to learn FSRecorder a bit as well as FRAPS (FSRecorder - Awesome freeware, but a lot of abnormalities to get use to, FRAPS has a workable free Demo).




The flight was mainly FMC controlled and just fed it the info as needed for corrections and changes, but it is a manual landing on a short runway just over 5,000 feet long at KMGY (you can easily tell it's manual since I am off a bit to the right and fly a tad over the Threshold - about 300'), the 747 has a 582.8 ZFW and low on gas. The Livery is my own creation using PMDG's free paint-kit.

This is something a 747-400 would never do, since the runway is half the length one would ever land at and this is more of an Emergency Landing Situation, but since it's a game meant for entertainment, why the hell not ;-)

I wasn't planning this at first but was following a tutorial on adding Taxi-ways using "AED" and the project was on location at KMGY (This program ADE does for FSX what AFCAD did for FS9, and is freeware). Anyway,,, I got bored so decided to try a takeoff and landing with the Queen.

The final seems a bit long (and low) but is how the FMC gave it to me and also since I have a few different views to show different aspects of the sim, they are shown separately even though some things are happening at the same time etc.
I also like to fly low at times and break away from trying to fly by the book and just check out the landscapes and lighting effects. Now that the hard parts over and I have a better feel for these programs I will hopefully make time for more of these projects (But like most of us, I prefer to watch others :-)

Issues: First experiences with FSRecorder and FRAPS, so that with "Light Bloom" (One of my favorite FSX effects) turned on was pretty hard hitting on this system. (Fraps is great, but video recording in 1280x1024 while flying a sim in a sim is hard hitting for any system).

It's made by a company called precisionmanuals. It is payware and not free, but under priced when you consider the insane level of realism. Level-D makes a great B767, but I think PMDG is my fav.

This one is the 747-400, but they have several,,, 737, MD11, JS41 etc...As far as the planes exterior paint job, that I did myself.
