Saw another slideshow with this song, but seeing as it is lyrically tied to Toronto I decided to do my own version with some CC material from Flickr. Quickly put together, but I hope viewers enjoy it.

----

I was up all night, socializing
Trying to keep the latent depression from crystalizing
Now the sun is lurking just behind the Scarborough horizon

And you're not even here
On the coldest night of the year.

I took in Yonge Street at a glance
Heard the punkers playing
Watched the bikers dance
Everybody wishing they could go to the south of France

And you're not even here
On the coldest night of the year.

Hey look at me now
See the shape I'm in
It's taken me so long to catch on to what's going on
Inside this skin
When two lovers really love there's nothing there
But this suddenly compact universe
Skin and breath and hair

I watched the all night TV show
In the all night bar
I drove all the people home
I was the one with the car

Now I'm sitting here alone and sleepless
and wondering where you are
And wishing you were here
On the coldest night of the year

  • What ferry is that on the 2nd image?

  • Not sure of the name of it. But according to the original image, it's coming from Ward's Island. Photo was shot from the CN Tower.

  • @YYZChap72

I think it looks more like the Maple City ferry that connects the Island Airport. It's an open design. Ward's Island is serviced by Thomas Rennie.

  • @achtungcircus

You are probably right. Original photo said Ward's Island... but I have been on the TCCA ferry before and it is much like this one.

  • Fantastic! Love the song...great slideshow. I play this song every year on what I consider to be "The Coldest Night of the Year" as I dance my wife around whatever room we happen to be in...been doing this since the 80's.

  • @santamara

    Thanks for the share Dori!

  • Does anybody flipping out on this thread not realize that dissing Toronto is a Canadian pastime that is as sacred as hockey? It is the one thing that unifies the rest of the country and maybe we wouldn't diss her if her mayors were sane and would stop calling in the army every time there's a snowstorm.

  • @cndspazz then you are sick of life as Toronto is a fun vibrant crazy active town

  • Even has a stuffed up nose for a cold song.

  • Very nice. I liked the song and picutres of .. my home town : )

  • @cndspazz Toronto is a great Canadian city. If you don't love it, get out!

Not everyone compares itself to America!

  • "I took in Yonge Street at a glance..." ; which is probably the best way to take in Yonge Street; at a glance. It's a trip for sure, and great fodder for people-watchers. Only in Toronto for one evening (Yonge Street), but I'd love to go back. Nice city. - NH / USA

  • @cndspazz Spaz!

  • @cndspazz loser, where ya live, Calgary?

  • toronto is a just a cheap imitation of a big american city . dirty . stinky . crime ridden.

  • i am so sick of hearing about toronto . every where.
